S1E1- Pilot
Here we are. The first episode ever of the best show ever. Re-watching it has brought back good ole' memories. Now I don't want to get anyone confused, I started watching Bones last summer, I'm not one of the original viewers who have been with it since 9/20/05! I'm trying to say it brought back memories because I haven't re-watched it since a year ago, does that make sense? *sighs* Oh well, let's continue with the episode review, shall we?
CASE SUMMARY:
The victim of this case was Cleo Louise Eller. Her body was discovered in the pond at Arlington cemetery (which by the way-doesn't have a pond...at least not one that I've seen). Hodgins found some 'frog' bones included with the remains, but Brennan later discovered that the bones were fetal ear fragments. Meaning, Cleo Eller was pregnant at the time of death.
Cleo worked as a congressional intern for Senator Bethlehem. She was also rumored to be having a sexual relationship with Bethlehem, meaning that he was the father of her unborn child. This lead the team to believe that Senator Bethlehem killed Cleo to save his job. Once the hammer that could have been used to crush Cleo's skull was found in Bethlehem's basement, it was a piece of reassuring evidence that he did murder Cleo.
But it turns out, Ken Thompson was the killer. He worked for Sen. Bethlehem & thought that Cleo's pregnancy scandal would ruin his job, so he stabbed her to death. Sad, right? Even though Cleo fought back, it just wasn't enough. Ken was found guilty once Brennan realized that the 'diatomaceous earth' found with the remains was from his tropical fish tank filter. (MAN that girl is goooooood!)
CHARACTERS:
Dr. Temperance Brennan
Wow. Brennan was SOO different in this episode! So many 'I don't know what that means.' & 'I hate psychology.' s to keep track of! One of the things that surprised me was how sarcastic she was. Good grief, especially with Booth! She was acting so superior around him & in a Brennan-type-of-way, cocky too! It felt like whenever he said something, she would snap at him with sarcasm. Did anyone else feel that way, or was it just me? Anyways, in the episode, we first learn that Brennan was abandoned by her parents at the age of 15 & no one has found the since. We also discover that Brennan had an ex-boyfriend named Peter whom she left before flying to Guatemala.
Interesting facts::
The producers had Emily Deschanel (actress who plays Temperance Brennan) wear more revealing clothes to help boost ratings. Interesting, huh? Well, I guess that explains the whole 'attacking my ex-boyfriend with a baseball bat in a tank top with no bra on' scene. (;
FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth
Ohhhhh Booth, how I love you. I think the writers did an excellent job in introducing him. And David Boreanaz (the actor who plays Booth) was definitely working that season 1, combed to the side, hairdo! *whistles* Booth sent a 'hold for questioning' request to homeland security on Brennan, so he would be able to talk to her and have Brennan work with him on the case. So while Brennan was being interrogated by a homeland security officer, Booth sashayed in & 'rescued her'.
...
Let's just say, Brennan didn't see it as 'rescuing'. On their car ride home from the airport, she got out of the car, refusing to help him. That is, unless she got to work in all aspects of the case-meaning, field work. Booth agreed, and together they checked out the crime scene. And that's how the partnership began. Romantic, isn't it?(;
Anywho, I think Booth was really...Boothy in this case. He wasn't like Brennan, which in my opinion was almost the polar opposite of who she is now. The only difference I caught was cocky was no where to be seen :O....

Woah...Zack felt totally different to me! He's usually so...so...almost, mellow, but in this episode, he seemed like Mr.Flirty, Chatty, Conceited, Humorous...not Zack-ish! Yeah, he was still socially awkward, but he was more snappy with his comments (especially with Mr.Goodman). I don't know, I haven't watched an episode with Zack in it for a while, but he seemed much different than my usual impression of him. What do you think? Comment below on your opinions...I'm interested to hear what yall think.

Doctor Jack Hodgins
Hmm, I don't really know what to think of Hodgins in this episode. All I got from him was a vibe that he didn't like Booth all that much. Did anyone else feel that? The whole Monica Lewinsky comment gave me that impression. TJ (actor who plays Jack Hodgins) didn't have all that many lines, so I didn't really get a good introduction on him. We didn't find out about his rich family, what doctorates he has, I don't know. I guess they left a lot of room for character development.
BOOTH & BRENNAN MOMENTS:
Booth: "What's is going to take?"
Brennan: "Full participation in the case."
Booth: "Fine."
Brennan: "Not just lab work. Everything."
Booth: "What? You want me to spit in my hand? We're Scully & Mulder."
Brennan: "I don't know what that means."
Ohhhhhhh the TENSION in that shooting range scene! I love it. Still one of my favorite B+B scenes!

Angela Montenegro
"Excuse me? Yeah, hi. The flight from Guatemala?"One of my favorite Angela moments of all time, when she rips of her shirt to reveal a sexy, pink, lacy corset to a mere airport clerk to get his attention. Gosh, I love her. Being the only "normal" one of the squint squad, I think Angela was introduced well. She did seem to come off a bit more outgoing and crazy than usual, almost over-dramatized, but I think it makes sense. After all, we know her now 5 years later, so she's calmed down a bit. Her 'free spirit' just seemed to show a bit more in this episode ( hence the picture(; ) But I did like it how the Angelanator was showed. I miss that thing, I really do.

Brennan: "Your hypothesis is that squints don't solve murders and cops do. Prove it. Be a cop."
Ohhhhhhh the TENSION in that shooting range scene! I love it. Still one of my favorite B+B scenes!
***
Booth: "You know, if it weren't for you, those people would never have known what happened to their daughter. That's got to be worse than the truth."
Brennan: "I know exactly how the Eller's felt about Cleo. My parents disappeared when I was 15 and nobody knows what happened to them.
Booth: "You know, being a sniper, I took a lot of lives. Before I'm done, I'd like to catch at least that many murderers."
Brennan: *laughs* "Please! You don't think there's some kind of cosmic balance sheet [catches herself and stops] ...I'd like to help you with that."
Booth: *smirks* "Ehh..."
Brennan: *while laughing, smacks Booth on the arm as they walk away, side-by-side.*

And the journey begins...
Hello everyone! My name's Marissa &+ I've challenged myself to blog my way through the show BONES over the summer to help me get through the hiatus. I'm absolutely OBSESSED with the show, so I'm really excited to be starting a blog about it. For each episode, starting with the Pilot, I plan on writing a review with my opinion of the episode, & posting some pictures along with it.
Before I begin, I just want to let new-bones watchers know, I'm doing this blog from a retrospective. So I'll be saying things like "this scene is a crucial turning point in Booth & Brennan's relationship." or "this is foreshadowing for in episode __ in season __..." etc. etc. So new bones fans, I'm sorry if I spoil anything for you!
The whole point of this blog is to make my way through the hiatus. That being said, please, please, PLEASE comment on your opinion of the episode!! I know I'm not the only fangirl out there suffering from Bones withdraw!
Well, without further ado, I'm going to go watch the 'Pilot'! Thanks for visiting!
Peace, love, BONES♥
